BONLOOK Review: All 'Dolled Up'! in Dreamy Tortoise
When I had arrived in Vancouver, it was a gloomy day with a slight drizzle of rain. The perfect condition in which my eyes can't see very well.
I had reached into my purse to get my glasses when - oh no! - I forgot them back at home! What am I supposed to do with no glasses? Should I just get my mum to ship them out to me? No.. they're pretty old. Not really worth it. The prescription is old, the frames a little wobbly...
So I decided, 'What a perfect time for new glasses.'
I didn't really know what to get. Did I want to get something in style? Something more modern? Classy? Retro!? I didn't know, but what I do know is that once upon a time I had fallen in love with a pair of beautiful purple cat eye glasses.
Until one day, they broke.
After that, I didn't really wear glasses. I was so in love with these. They were so nice for my skin tone and overall face shape. I loved them. I wish I still had them. But, unfortunately, that's what you get for $15.00 frames.
In remembrance of this pair, I decided I wanted to stick with the cat-eye look once again. I think it's very feminine, flirty, yet sophisticated and mature.
Having been on the emailing list for Bonlook for a couple months, deciding if I wanted to spend $100.00 on a pair of frames, I decided to give them a chance. After much debate, I decided to get a hybrid between the cat-eye frames and something hipster.
Everyone, meet Dreamy Tortoise, Dolled Up.
But I decided to give them a chance. I ordered them, gave them my prescription, and a week later they were shipped off to my new address!
It took about three business days for them to arrive, which is pretty sweet. The package looked like this:
My boyfriend has ugly sheets.
And then when you opened the package there was another box, and within that box was your glasses' case.
To be honest the case was a bit dirty, which I thought was kind of sad because you're paying so much for your glasses.
And then I was like 'Oh. They're so big. Fuck. Did I just waste my money?'
I wasn't really impressed. But I put them on and went to have a look in the mirror.
Before I give you my verdict though, I will mention that I haven't worn glasses in probably over a year. I cannot stress enough how weird it felt to be able to see things so clearly. Its been taking a while for me to get used to.
I put my glasses on and lo-and-behold, they weren't too bad.
They're still quite large for my liking but they're actually growing on me.
Would I order from them again? Possibly. If they got smaller frames and that weren't so boxy.
Oh, I would also like to mention, if you're from Canada like I am, you're paying a LOT more than what the USA pays for their glasses even though Bonlook is based in Montreal. Weird? Yeah. That's why I was so reluctant to order anything from them, because who charges more for a product available in your own country than anywhere else?
Seems extremely stupid and bad on the company's part. Next time, maybe I'll just stick with Clearly Contacts.
